I am pleased to inform you that Frankie, age 14, with a history of school failure, delinquent behavior, alcohol use and fighting, has been selected by the Boys’ and Girls’ Club staff as a Boy of the Month. He has earned this award because of his outstanding participation, attendance, and citizenship. This award qualifies him to be eligible for the Boy of the Year Award.

Frankie’s special education teacher called. She said he is showing improvement, and she could see a good change in his attitude at school. She is going to have him go back into the regular English class. And you, of course, working with him this year, has been the biggest part of change in Frank. Thank you.

From Elaine P.
I wish you could somehow know first-hand what a source of joy someone like you can be to someone such as me. I feel so positive as a result. Faith seems to be outweighing fear. You help me attain peace of mind. Part of the burden has been lifted after talking to you. Countless times I’ve existed on a much higher spiritual level than I would have had it not been for you. Thank you for your professional integrity.

More from Elaine P.
I remember so well the first time I withdrew from law school and how “lost” I seemed to be and how you made yourself available twice a week because you thought it necessary, and at no extra compensation. And how many times did I get pre-exam jitters—not to mention in between those times, and I’d call you and there you would be. And how many times I came so close to “throwing my hands up in the air” and giving up—and how many times your words echoed in my mind, “Elaine, you know it will only be a temporary relief.” And how many times that realization kept me going! Anyway, all of the above I shall probably never forget and I thank you with the deepest gratitude. I honestly have to say, looking back on all the apprehension—and studying…the joy of getting past that hurdle really made the struggles worth it—truly. We did it! And while I’ll never know if I could have done it without you—I ‘m almost positive that I would not have done it without you—as certain as I can be without knowing first hand. Sine qua non!
Elaine P., upon passing the law school bar and becoming an attorney. December 19, 2016
From J. C.
This is long overdue, but I wanted to sincerely thank you for working with me. It was a pleasure to meet with you each week because you served as a very important support person in my life. I am certain that I would not have navigated all of the changes so successfully without your guidance. I feel very lucky that I found you and I am truly grateful for the positive feedback, acceptance and encouragement. It was so great to have a sounding board/confidant such as yourself for that hour which was totally mine, mine, mine! Everybody deserves some of that in their life! I have deep, heartfelt gratitude for you, Gil. You made the difference that leaves me in such a good place today.

I just want to write you a note to express my sincere appreciation for the help and guidance which you have given Joshua. The past two years have been a very difficult time for Joshua and the stresses which he encountered were very painful for him, I am sure. It is my honest view that you were one of the major factors in helping Joshua to get through this difficult time and to learn how to deal with the stresses and difficulties that we all encounter along the road. I think your assistance to Joshua has enabled him to grow very substantially. I have seen the growth in him from a young person who was totally unable to express verbally his feelings and anxieties to a boy who feels much more comfortable with himself and has developed the skills and the strength to express himself. Again, I wish to express my sincerest appreciation to you for your personal commitment, genuine warmth, and professional skills.
